Fit Kids Cooking is a unique mobile cooking school offering fun, healthy, and educational cooking classes, school break camps, and birthday parties for kids and youth.
We also offer wellness groups for kids ages 7-17, and their families, to increase physical, mental, and social functioning.
Our students learn how to prepare healthy snacks, meals, and desserts they can later make at home, while also learning more about the link between nutrition, mental health, and their growing bodies.
With a focus on healthful eating, we show kids that vegetables, whole grains, good fats, and fruits can be delicious- and of course, we include yummy desserts they will love. And the best part is, once kids learn to cook, parents don't have to (at least not as much)!
Understanding the every day challenge of ensuring our children eat healthfully, Fit Kids Cooking was created as a way to help parents by teaching their kids how to choose and cook healthier foods.
In addition to learning cooking skills, every student will become a little more knowledgeable about where their food comes from, what makes it healthy (or unhealthy) and the role it plays in our environment.
We want kids to understand the bigger picture about the foods they eat, including how food impacts their body and mind.
We show kids that cooking can be great fun. Our classes include activities and recipes designed with kids in mind. We always use age-appropriate tools and equipment with safety being our top priority.
During our classes, your child will learn a valuable, practical life skill. Kids are also developing mathematical, comprehension, and motor skills without even realizing it.
We teach kids about the properties and nutritional values of the food they use in their creations, explaining which foods are occasional treats and which foods they should eat regularly.
We also discuss wellness strategies and tips to improve overall functioning.
13.7 million children and adolescents in the United States are obese. Diet-related illnesses, including impaired mental health, are on the rise. These are startling statistics, but there is a solution.
As a mother, healthy cooking enthusiast and clinical social worker, it is my personal goal to improve the health of children by teaching home cooking, better food choices and other life-enhancing skills in a fun, interactive way.
I envision a world where children and families are healthier and happier, one cooking class at a time.
